Gamer is a new movie coming soon. Basically, the prisoners are the characters in a video game and the people playing are trying to kill the other prisoners off, it looks like a Call of Duty game that ultimately ends and you can't keep playing.

My guess? One of the prisoners is a great fighter and will eventually survive and try to go against the evil mind that came up with this concept. The characters are REAL man! This is SPARTA!! And he will eventually kick Dexter down a hole. The end. Everyone is happy, and the guy from 300 will escape, happy dance.

The Final Frontier

Okay, so I just saw the new Star Trek movie, and I will probably be lampooned for my thoughts on this movie, but I'm just going to be honest, this is my blog, so gfy if you don't like it!

I liked this movie.

But I only liked it a little.

I was a Star Trek fan, maybe not the biggest Star Trek fan (meaning that I don't speak Klingon) but I did love the original series, the movies, and Next Generation. DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise kind of fell by the wayside for me, but I do say Trekker.

Here's the comparison..

Okay, so basically the difference between the original and this prequel/origin story is the reason that I don't love this movie.

That being said there are plenty of things to like and dislike about J.J. Abrams' Star Trek.

Likes
1. Origin of the Characters- As a fan, it was a total geek out moment when Kirk and Bones met, when Scotty came aboard, seeing Leonard Nimoy, and seeing Spock as child, all of these moments were absolute nerdgasms.

2. The Action- If this had been any other movie, the action in Star Trek would have been enough to make me love it. For example, the fight scene on the planet drill, where Kirk and Sulu are fighting off the Romulans, with near death experiences and a last minute transport back to the Enterprise, absolutely had me on the edge of my seat.

3. The Twists- The plot twists were interesting, but if had ever seen Star Trek before, you know that the Romulans are from the future at the beginning of the movie, because they say "Where is Spock". The other twists including the time paradox scare were also interesting and over all, it was a nice way to take the story of Star Trek.

4. The Rebirth of a Film Franchise- The way the time paradox worked in this film was basically to void all the other Star Trek movies and give the opportunity to tell brand new stories, which would actually be a nice breath of fresh air from Hollywood.

and now..

The Dislikes
1. J.J. Abrams was not a fan- And you could tell that he wasn't a fan of Star Trek before this movie. My wife called it, "the biggest bastardization of Star Trek" that she could ever imagine, and I agree to a certain point. Abrams focused more on his style of twists and action than on what Star Trek has always focused on, characters and relationships. I understand that this was a prequel, but it seemed like they wanted you to have no prior knowledge of Star Trek before you gave them your money. And that's really the main thing I didn't like about it, it didn't stay true to what Star Trek means to so many people, or at least the Kirk enterprise. My wife and I both agree that we would have loved it if it was just the next chapter of Star Trek with no mention of Spock, Kirk, Sulu, Uhura, etc.

2. Why the Hell was the Cloverfield monster on the snow planet?

No seriously, I want to know!

3. Spock showed emotion far too young. Not with child Spock, but with Uhura. Spock is supposed to reject all romantic advances! Eventually, in sequels, you can make him understand love. (see #1)

4. Why were crew of space ships shot off onto uninhabited planets (other than Cloverfield monsters)? That made absolutely no sense. Why wouldn't they just keep him on board in a prison like area? You know they had one, they had one in the original! (see #1)

But, like I said, I did enjoy the movie, but all the problems really stem from the fact that the people responsible for the movie were not fans of the original series, nor were they fans of the movies before this was made, and it's obvious.

I will leave you with an example of the problem

The Amory Wars: Second Stage Turbine Blade is the second attempt by Coheed & Cambria singer Claudio Sanchez to tell the story of their first album, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, through comic book format.

If you are unfamiliar with the story of Coheed & Cambria and would like the learn just what the hell they are talking about, then this story arc of The Amory Wars is for you.

Here's a video preview of the comic.

Basically, this comic is telling the story of Claudio Killgannon, son of Coheed & Cambria. I don't want to give away too much of this comic, because I really enjoyed it and read it fast, but long story short.. To compare, Claudio is basically Neo in this story, and he has to come to terms with what he must do to protect his world.

Left 4 Dead Demo from G4

Hey guys, I just played through the demo available from the X Box Live Marketplace, and I've got to say... AWESOME!!

I played just through by myself, but it has the potential for four player on-line co-op with the ability to boot players. Awesome.

Anyway, here is the video for the demo, it's long, but it's awesome! And playing through it is so much better than the video does justice, but the video still rules! So, here it is! I'm g33ked!

When Kanye West releases a new song, it seems like he automatically grabs the position of #1 song on my playlists. This song is the second single from his forthcoming 808's and Heartbreak. Preceded by "Love Lockdown" a song that completely broke the mold of modern hip hop, he follows the trend with "Heartless".

Well, this has been an interesting weekend, and my wife is now trying to take the computer away from me while I am trying to blog, but I digress.

I was sick over the weekend and so that pretty much put a damper on my Halloween weekend, but the weekend was fun, but daylight savings time kicked my ass! I woke up at like 1:30 before it turned 1 again and started playing Gears of War, and I can't beat the damn Berserker! Dammit!

Oh well, I'll wrap this up and give the Mac up to April, but first I want to address something that I have started and the details can be found @ New Media Tennessee!

What A Weekend!

Okay, so not much has been accomplished but I did work on an untitled h254xm song that is very dance/techno in that it is completely based on a swelling beat while adding on more and more levels! Exciting! I'll see what I can do about upliading it on here when I am done, or maybe just YouTube it. Who knows at this point.

I do, however need to mention the political tidal waves that have "shored up" this weekend.

First of all, what the hell was John McCain seriously thinking when he picked Sarah Palin, and I really don't want to come off like an ass, but I am seriously wondering and concerned.

I also feel that if I criticize her I will be lanle a sexist, but I am actually happy that we have an African American and woman in the running for presidential office, very happy. It actually makes me believe that we in American have come much further than I thought we would.

But Sarah Palin, seriously? I still can't figure out why a woman who was actually well informed was not chosen, but I guess that's just me!

Anyway, I am definitely voting for Barack Obama because I feel he Is what American needs in 2008. I respect both John McCain and Sarah Palin, but they are both performing so under par that I keep feeling like I am ungulfed in an insane asylum.

I am just curious what is going on in their minds, and for the life of me, I can't. It's almost like they are trying to throw the election!

Anyway, in the immortal words of Mr. Hart, "enough is enough and it's time for a change!" Good night!

Sorry for not updating, guys. I've been feeling pretty under the weather, getting busier by the day at work, and it's just been a little rough.

I have, however seen the Dark Knight twice, been rocking the 2.0.1 software on the iPhone and I'm actually using life cast to post this blog.

How To Stop An Exploding Blog: Part 1

Hey, in addition to my killer recording industry job, I also make the music in a little power-dance group known as How To Stop An Exploding Man.

That being said, I am currently in the works of making the music for the song "Truth & Consequences" to be featured on the album, Volume 2: Generations. I already have 7 other tracks ready to go as soon as my wife decides to write lyrics for them.

All in all, it looks like it is going to be a pretty rocking album, and if there is any way to host them from here, I will work on providing ringtones of all the songs for free. Rock.

Today is so brutal!!

I started the day off teaching my boss some in's and out's of our new database software, great! Super exciting day, then I got to enter in 27 different sets of royalties into our old database.

And to think... I actually wanted to work in the music business!

It's really not that bad, though. I just have to keep telling myself that I am still a rookie and things will seem more important and cool one day, right? Right?!?

Well, today hasn't been too terribly interesting.

I am still sort of under the weather while I am at work, I did however run across a song titled "Murder" that didn't bring in too much money.

I'm not feeling all that well today, I listened to the Heroes soundtrack earlier and added a Heroes video updater, since I am completely geeked out over Heroes right now. So that is all I'm doing right now.

I know that I am American and that this isn't in English, but the group Belanova has some of the catchiest music that I have ever heard.

It's very poppy/new wave, kind of like if the singer for The Sounds was Spanish speaking and sweeter sounding.

Well, I got really sick the other day (Thursday-Friday) but I am feeling better today, I figured I would throw together a really broad blog, so I can just have somewhere to vent and talk about what I am doing while no one is listening.

You know, I can accept that. But, I find my life interesting, and I have things to say that I believe are worth listening to, so, hopefully you guys agree.

I will be posting videos on here that I find interesting, nothing really special or news worthy, just funny and interesting videos.

I also want you to pay attention to the slideshow that I will have on here, it will be a series of photos that I like to call "Stall Walls" but I will also put other random photos that I think are humorous or just odd things that I see.
